Dr. Nizar Bitar

Dr. Nizar Bitar is a Professor of Medical Hematology Oncology. He received his Medical Degree from the Free University of Brussels, Belgium in 1982. Dr. Bitar completed his residency in Internal Medicine, Hematology–Oncology, and bone marrow transplantation at the affiliated hospitals of the same university mainly at the Institute Jules Bordet, Belgium. He moved to Lebanon in 1992 and headed the division of Hematology-Oncology at the Lebanese University till 2019. Currently, Dr. Bitar is the Head of the Hematology–Oncology Division at Sahel General Hospital, Lebanon. He participated to the elaboration of the national cancer treatment guidelines and chaired the national antineoplastic drug committee at MOPH for several years. Dr. Bitar is the immediate Past President of the Lebanese Society of Medical Oncology, Chairman of the Best of ASCO Beirut annual meeting (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), LSMO annual meeting (2018,2019, 2020), and active member of several national and international scientific societies.
