Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to announce that the Lebanese Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcome Research, LSPOR, Educational Workshop 2019 entitled: “Pricing and Reimbursement for Pharmaceuticals” will take place on February 22nd at Hilton Habtoor Grand Hotel. It’s an opportunity to gather together on our journey as healthcare leaders and to discuss the new aspects in health technology and market access challenges.
 
LSPOR is the Lebanon chapter of ISPOR, the leading International Society for Pharmaco economics and Outcomes Research. ISPOR was founded in 1995 as an international multidisciplinary professional membership society. Its mission and vision is to advance the policy, science, and practice of Pharmaco- economics (health economics) and outcomes research, encouraging the efficiency, effectiveness, and fairness of health care to improve health. The Lebanon chapter obtained legal recognition as a local NGO in June 2015. Our goal is to “Educate, Engage and Inspire Leaders to Improve Health” and I am extremely honored to be serving as ISPOR Lebanese Chapter President for the upcoming year.
 
Providing efficient and effective health care is a global challenge. LSPOR is a not for profit organization that exists to help meet this challenge at a local level by working together with local payers, demanding greater evidence of value; and helping to establish evidence-based decision making, with the ultimate goal to achieve universal health coverage and equity for Lebanese population. It is also the Platform for Member Engagement, Dialogue with Decision Makers, Education and Information Sharing as well as Networking between outcome researchers, health technology developers and assessors, regulators, health economists, health care policy makers, payers, providers, patients, populations, and society as a whole.
 
I personally invite you to join us on February 22nd at the Hilton Habtoor Grand Hotel. I also encourage you to take advantage of the exclusive opportunities to join LSPOR and gain the chance to network with professionals in your field or similar fields that will increase your awareness and scientific knowledge in pharmacoeconomics/health economics and patient health outcomes.

MEETING OBJECTIVES

​The goal of this workshop is to describe the health system and the different health coverage schemes in our region compared to reference countries. It will introduce the structure of reimbursement bodies (public and private) and the health services funding categories. Additionally, we aim to shed the light on the legislation and main task of the health coverage funds and to discuss the financing of the health services, the risk pooling, the sources of funding, the financing intermediaries, the distribution among providers and the basis of health products pricing.
